Listing Photo Standards and Accuracy Policy

1. Technical requirements

• JPEG, PNG or WebP, no larger than 10 MB per file.
• Minimum resolution: 1024×683 pixels. For best results, use 1600×1067 pixels or larger.
• Use landscape orientation for stays and room photographs unless a vertical image is specifically requested.
• Photographs must be clear, correctly oriented, naturally coloured and bright enough to show important details.
• The uploader must own the photograph or have permission to use it commercially on AfriSawari.

2. Required coverage

• A clear exterior or arrival view and the main entrance.
• Every bedroom, bathroom and sleeping area available to guests.
• The kitchen or food-preparation area, where one is advertised.
• Important shared spaces and every material amenity advertised in the listing.
• Any limitation, damage or condition that a reasonable guest would need to understand before booking.

Room photographs must be assigned to the room or unit they actually show. Representative photographs may be used only where the listing clearly explains that substantially equivalent units may vary.

3. Truthful editing

Cropping, straightening, orientation correction, restrained exposure and colour correction, noise reduction and mild sharpening are allowed when they preserve the truth of the scene.

The following are prohibited:

• Adding, removing or replacing furniture, fixtures, amenities, views, windows, doors, people or architectural features.
• Widening rooms, changing proportions, using fish-eye distortion or presenting an angle that materially exaggerates space.
• Concealing damage, dirt, construction, safety concerns, neighbouring conditions or other material facts.
• Replacing skies or views, using generative fill, or creating a scene that did not exist when the photograph was taken.
• Heavy filters, unnatural colour, collages, screenshots, promotional text, third-party OTA branding or misleading watermarks.

4. AfriSawari assessment and optimization

AfriSawari may inspect uploaded image bytes and metadata to detect unreadable files, inadequate resolution, blur, exposure problems, orientation and other presentation risks. The host may receive a quality score and retake recommendations.

When safe optimization is selected, AfriSawari may create a separate display copy that corrects rotation and colour profile, gently balances exposure, removes embedded metadata, mildly sharpens and compresses the image for web delivery. This process is non-generative and is not permitted to change the property or service being shown.

AfriSawari may retain the uploaded original and generated display copies for integrity review, dispute handling, service delivery and lawful record-keeping, subject to the applicable privacy and retention rules.

5. Review and enforcement

AfriSawari may warn, reject, reorder, decline to publish or remove photographs that fail these standards. Material or repeated misrepresentation may delay listing approval, require new photographs, suspend the listing or account, or lead to other action allowed by the final Terms of Service. Hosts may request human review where an automated assessment is wrong.
